Performative Lecture, THE TEXTILE IN ARCHITECTURE - ARCHITECTURE IN TEXTILE(S)

This Project proposal originates from a working experience we developed earlier in June 2019, upon invitation from Taiyuan University Shanxi in China- the College of Arts, a two week workshop and educational project composed by a theoretical part (Textile Revolutions) led by Francesco Bernardelli, contemporary art critic, essayist and curator, and an artistic practice workshop (Creativity Weaving) conducted by Paola Anziché, visual artist, as can be seen from the portfolio documentation.
From this experience we decided to further elaborate on the topics, issues, and (rising) questions as well to offer a deeper focus on the experiential qualities as embodied by textiles as an art medium.
Aim of the project is to provide the public with FB lecturing and describing key figures and turning points in the wider field of the meeting between visual arts and textile arts (in the early 20th century) while PA will bring soft and wearable sculptures - made in different materials - that will be experienced in the real time and actual location of the very lecture’s situation.
By sharing such an activity together with the public, we invite the onlookers to activate their sensorial sphere and become part of the experience, advocating the role of tactility and sensory perception.
